IITA 50th Anniversary celebration at the Eastern Africa Hub

Description: The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is turning 50 this year. A series of events have been organized to mark this important milestone across the Institute. At its IITA-Eastern Africa hub, the celebrations will take place next week at the hub offices in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The celebrations will bring together partners, beneficiaries, and IITA staff based in Eastern Africa. The day has a rich program that will combine plenary presentations, posters, and products exhibitions during which the staff will showcase the Institute’s progress and achievements as well as share its future plans. These include our research on tackling crop diseases such as cassava viruses or banana bacteria, on reducing aflatoxin contamination in food, adding value to primary production, and our efforts to engage youth in agriculture and agribusiness.
Hon Dr Charles Tizeba, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries will be the guest of honor. The IITA Deputy Director General Dr May-Guri Saethre and IITA hub Director , Dr victor Manyong and other senior management will also be at the event.
